New Year, New Look for the Grape Gazette

Year Two of the Grape Gazette brings a New Look…a sharper, more vibrant version of the “Grape” photo, a fresh layout and crisp typeface that reflect my love of simplicity in design. I have added the new Category drop-down box to locate past articles, and have relocated the Subscription Manager just to your right. I encourage you to subscribe to Grape Gazette so that you receive my posts as they are published.

And, don’t forget to “Like” the Grape Gazette on Facebook in the adjacent Social Plug-In!

I am currently working on a new series of articles to kick off Year Two that highlights some “standout” smaller production, boutique wineries I have visited in the past few months, from Ventura County to Paso Robles, here in California.

Below is my new “closing” photo, that I took at Domaine Bois de Boursan, in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, southern Rhône, Provence, France, in June 2012.  “Les Toqués des Dentelles” is a cooperative of nine “lunatic” winemakers and is a play on words…”toque” is the French chef’s hat and “toqué” is French for crazy. “Dentelles”, French for lace, refers to the stunning mountain tops of the Dentelles de Montmirail, whose eroded rock formations resemble lace. One could argue that they also look like teeth, or “dent” in French. Another play on words?…”little teeth” perhaps? And my “New Look”, comme Dior 1947? Peut être!

Until next time…à votre santé!
