Wine Meets Wine Art

Penfolds is a top wine producer and one of the most recognizable brands in Australia. Penfolds Grange, a Shiraz (Syrah), is Australia’s most collectible wine. I own a 1999 Penfolds Grange, and mine is pictured below. In most Penfolds Grange vintages, a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon is added, but 1999 is unique because it is the first vintage since 1963 that is 100% Shiraz and a great follow up (scoring 91-94) to the classic 1998 vintage (scoring 95-99).

In 2012, Penfolds launched their Ampoule Project…a handblown, individually signed glass sculpture which contains the very rare 2004 Kalimna Block 42 Cabernet Sauvignon and is encased in a handcrafted wooden vessel. Only 12 have been created and each sells for approximately $160,000 US.
