The Golden State is Shining in 2012

Santa Rita Hills, Santa Barbara County, California

The kids are already back in school, and the harvest has begun here in California. Unlike the weather issues that have plagued central and northern France this season, the Golden State has been blessed with the best our wonderful Mediterranean climate has to offer. This year brought no frost or rain issues in the spring and no prolonged heat waves so far this summer.  If weather conditions continue to cooperate, 2012 promises to be an excellent vintage.

California vintners are optimistic, especially with their grapes in high demand and some completely sold. Due to the many grape varietals grown throughout the wine regions of California, the harvest should last through the month of October.

Until next time…à votre sante!  Here’s to a great harvest!
